Fallen Billow should be in college like most of her friends, but instead she’s raising her brother and working as a housekeeper at a vintage local hotel. It’s back-breaking work, but not nearly as challenging as fending off unwanted advances from the hotel’s owner.

Thomas McHugh is fighting for our country, across the globe and decades before Fallen Billow was even born. So there’s no way they’re soul mates. There’s no way he can be desperate to see her, hold her, kiss her. Except there is.

Is it a dream when he inks his name on her skin? Is it a delusion when she puts her hands on his face and says she loves him? Nothing has ever felt more real.

Fate has etched paths for Thomas and Fallen that even time cannot touch. A Purple Heart proclaims Thomas’ valor and bravery. And his death. But Fallen dares to dream of the impossible. She wants Thomas to stay. Just stay.

A tribute to all who have served our country, this novel honors the impossible beauty of love and the endless power of hope. Come open your heart and celebrate the many facets of bravery with Fallen and Thomas.

Debra Anastasia has created a website for Thomas McHugh - the veteran the book is in honor of. (It is recommended readers look at this website after reading the book)

Excerpt

“I bet you were adorable.” He put his knuckle under her chin and encouraged her to lift her head. She rolled back over and settled against his shoulder.

“I don’t want to be adorable. I want to be impossible.”

“How do you mean?” He kissed her forehead.

“I want to be impossible for you to forget, impossible for you to keep your hands off of.” She leaned up for a kiss.

“You’re my impossible then. Have no fear.” He tenderly reminded her he was her impossible, too, with his lips.

She put her hand against his stomach and snuggled in. “This is my spot. Right here. With you—it’s home.”

He swallowed before talking to the ceiling. “My heart was like a fist. Where I am? It’s not a place you plan to survive. I’ve been there for years, and it’s not about skill; it’s not even about luck. You get strapped into a machine, and fate’s driving. You can’t get out even if you want to. So you submit to it. You harden your soul. You get ready to die.”

He shifted, rolling on top of her. She sighed in contentment. Being beneath him made her feel safe and secure.

He kissed her lips, then the tip of her nose, before continuing. “But with you, it’s like my heart’s opening up, and I’m terrified to feel, after all this time. Yet I don’t have a choice. No matter where I am, I draw your face whenever I get a scrap of paper.”

He laughed a little. “We found a puppy, and I named it Fallen, just so I could say your name over and over. The guys think I’m crazy—such a strange name for a dog. But I don’t care. I’m gasping for you every moment I’m awake. And I’m making choices to keep me alive through the week.”

His eyes searched hers. “What if I’m not as tough as I was in the beginning? God, I hope no one is affected by my distraction with this. But in the end there’s you. Only you. Do what you have to to get back to me when you’re awake. You have to. I need you more than air, more than life right now. The softness of you, the tenderness in your eyes when you see me. I’m trying to force fate to throw me in your direction. To hurl me at you somehow. I don’t know if it will work. But I’m praying for it.”

Fallen touched his face, then his neck. “I will do everything I can to find you.”

Excerpt

“Why’d you push me earlier?”

“It’s not important.”

But it was. She felt it in her chest. It was so important, and she needed him to say it again. She was salivating for the chance. She wanted to reassure him, and this time she felt it in her heart. She knew she wasn’t going anywhere. She wanted him to see it in her eyes, that she meant every single word.

She whispered now, “Ask me. Ask me again.”

His eyes met hers, narrowing slightly. He was looking into her, reading her.

She was letting him. There was no wall, no hesitation this time. She wanted him to know her, not just her body. All of her. A second passed. He was still searching in her. Another second. More. He waited a full thirty before asking, his voice so soft and tender, “What would you do if you found out another person cared about you? If you mattered to one more person?”

“Nothing.” She was trying to convey her feelings through her eyes. She wanted him to know so badly. “I wouldn’t run. I wouldn’t walk. I wouldn’t hide. I’d do nothing except stand and embrace it.”

His eyes darkened, an emotion passed in them, one that had her heart beating so fast again. “Yeah?” He let go of her hand, but touched the side of her face. He held her in the palm of his hand, and his thumb rubbed over her cheek. It was like he was smoothing away any lingering worries she might have. “What if I was that person?”

She leaned toward him, her eyes going from his lips back to his gaze. Both were pulling her in, making her yearn for more. “Then I’d say, I feel the same.” Her breath held in her throat. They were talking in code, but it was out now. She was telling him how she felt, and a second later, his lips were on hers.

This. She turned, wound her arms around his neck. This was everything.

Rezension: "Der Befreier von Canea - Codex Alera Bd. 5" von Jim Butcher

Verlag: Blanvalet
Seitenanzahl: 608
Taschenbuch, Klappenbroschur

ISBN: 978-3-7341-6060-8
Erschienen: 21.12.2015
---------------------------------------------------

Inhaltsangabe (Quelle: Blanvalet):

Mein Fazit:

5 Sterne - grandiose Reihe und einfach nur empfehlenswert!

Rezension: "Die rote Königin" von Victoria Aveyard

https://www.carlsen.de/hardcover/die-farben-des-blutes-1-die-rote-koenigin/51598
Seitenanzahl: 512

Seitenanzahl: 496
Altersempfehlung: ab 14 Jahren
Verlag: Carlsen (hier geht's zum Buch)
ISBN: 978-3-646-92855-6
-----------------------------------------------------

Inhaltsangabe (Quelle Carlsen Verlag):

Waiting on Wednesday

Inhaltsangabe:
It’s a typical day of bureaucracy and stress for President and First Lady Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini, made more stressful when alien spacecraft are spotted making a beeline for Earth, none of them from the Alpha Centauri system.

Then a cryptic request from an old adversary pulls Kitty out of the White House and into an explosion—and an even more explosive situation. Not only is the Mastermind back in the game, influencing the Club 51 True Believers to find and destroy all Centaurion bases, but he’s also found a dangerous benefactor and created some frightening new cloning abilities.

And, just to make things a little more challenging, those alien spacecraft are coming to ask Kitty for protection, and asylum on Earth. Police stations being blown up and war helicopters in play aren’t enoughto keep Kitty down, especially when she’s got some new alien friends helping out.

But what these aliens share will rock the world—the other aliens on theirway to Earth are fleeing an enemy so terrifying that even a Z’porrah ship is trying to get to Earth for safety and protection. And if Earth isn’t able to stop this threat, there may not be anything left of humanity.

Now Kitty and Company have to figure out where the Mastermind is and stop him, before any new aliens land. And then they have to save the world from a deadly invasion. Or, as Kitty calls it, Thursday.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

AP new - excerpt.jpg
I’ve lost the power of speech.  She’s wearing that gorgeous little daisy-yellow nightgown dress I sent her a few weeks ago.  The soft light from behind her highlighting every contour and line of her lush body.  A body that will soon be under my tongue and in my hands.
I never dreamed I would see her like this, like she is right now.  But here she is, and it’s glorious.  I can see all her curves, the pink circles of her nipples pressing through and she’s not doing anything to cover herself.  I’ve just won the lotto and a Nobel prize, and whatever trophy they hand out when you come first in life.

“What are you doing opening the door wearing that, baby?”  I’m not sure if I’m raging mad about it or just about as thrilled as any virgin ever was.  My cock is about to snap in half, curved up and around where he can’t escape because my belt is holding his greedy, cum-dripping self in place.  “I mean,” I shake my head and rub my hands over my face trying to reset, “I’m sorry.  You are fucking stunning beyond words, but, baby, what if it wasn’t me?”

As happy as I am to see her, the jealous beast in me lights up, the thought of another man seeing what’s mine has me off my nut.

“I only opened the door after I saw who it was.  I peeked through the peephole first. It’s a sign, I know it is.  I just tried this on for the first time and here you are.  Here you are, I can’t believe it.”  She does this little bunny hop and I don’t miss how her full tits bounce and move with her, making my dick drip into my pants.  I am fairly sure I could watch that little move for the rest of my life and never, ever get tired of it.

Her hands pull at the long tendrils of hair hanging over her shoulders and I realize I haven’t kissed her yet, so I remedy that right away.

My arms pull her to me, sweep up and down her back, up and down the soft fabric that covers her equally soft body, as my lips mount hers.  I kiss her with the force of a man here to finally claim what is his, letting her know I’m here and she’s mine.  After a long kiss, I lean back to drink her in.

“I love that you are wearing this.  It means a lot to me.”  I hook my thumbs into the ruffle around the neckline and trace it up and down, my vision drifting down to where it scoops low, barely covering her ample tits and I want them in my mouth so badly it hurts.

“You must be hungry after your trip.”  Her voice flutters around my head, soft and like a dove, not quite ready to fly away.  Her breath between the words tells me I’m distracting her and I love that.

I bring a hand up to comb my fingers through her hair.  I’ve dreamed of how it would feel for so long.  Silk is like twine compared with its softness.  The black strands fall between my fingers and I’m hypnotized by the sight and feel of it.  It’s so real and I’m so fucking gone.

I taste her lips again with a quick kiss, then put my mouth next to her ear.  “I’m hungry for one thing, and one thing only right now.  That’s you, Wildflower, my mouth between your legs.  I told you, that’s the first thing I want to do to you.  I want to taste your first orgasm.  I want to remember it forever.”
